Mark was such a great carpenter, I would recommend him. We asked him to finish off a incomplete job from another carpenter and were really glad he said yes to a job that was less than ideal. We had a built in cupboard unit created by someone else but they hadn't finished the drawers we requested. Mark came and did measurements and did the job for us in a timely manner. Unfortunately for Mark the drawers were not that straightforward as first expected but Mark completed the work to a very high standard. He was polite and we had no issues in having him in our home. We would recommend him and have him back for future jobs. The drawers are brilliant!

Mark was brilliant, translating rough drawings for a stationery/filing unit into the real thing and altering it when my measurements turned out to be a little off! As with the earlier shoe storage unit and cupboard in the hall he did a professional job and was so pleasant and helpful with it. So much better than buying something ready made. Mark was helpful, friendly and very neat and tidy when he came to “instal” both items. He was clear about costings and very reliable. Wouldn’t hesitate to use him again.

Armitage Carpentry & Building is led by Mark Armitage, who started his apprenticeship with a local builder in the early 1990s and has spent every year since refining his trade across carpentry and building work. That experience spans private clients and builders, renovation projects and new builds, so very little is unfamiliar.
Mark is honest and straight-talking, and rarely says no. The approach is always to find a solution to what the client actually needs rather than push a standard product. Every job is carried out by Mark personally, not handed to a subcontractor, which keeps the standard consistent from first measure to final fit.
Quality and value go together here. The aim is for people to have the things they want at a price that works, with no corners cut. That focus on doing the job properly is why so much of the work comes from repeat clients and recommendations.
Reliability matters just as much as the joinery. Mark turns up on time, keeps the work area clean, and leaves a tidy environment at the end of every day. The result is a long-term working relationship, not a one-off transaction.

Standard hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 12:30. Sundays are not normally worked. Mark is reliable and turns up when he says he will.
